FAQ: Facial Enhancement
Q. How does the Autologous Facial Fat Transfer work?
A. The Autologous Facial Fat Transfer is the use of patient's own fat cells which are suctioned from areas such as: neck, abdomen or thighs during the same session and then carefully injected into select areas of volume loss, deep wrinkles and lines around the eyes, nose, cheeks, around the mouth, and lips. This is a popular alternative to use of fillers in people who need higher volume replacement and have areas of excess fat, which they wish to have reduced at the same time. There is virtually no downtime for the facial transfer part of the procedure. There will be a short recovery for the area undergoing liposuction. The results are immediate and natural looking.
Q. What is the Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty (also known as Non Surgical Nose Job or the 15 Minute Nose Job) is an innovative procedure used to elevate and straighten the tip of the nose, conceal a bump or correct a deviated nasal bridge by injecting soft tissue filler into very specific areas of the nose. The procedure can also be used to make a wide bridge or round tip appear more narrow and defined. The results are immediate, without downtime!
Q. Who is a candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
A. For those with select nasal deformities that can be corrected with augmentation and who do not wish to experience the downtime associated with surgery, with significant medical problems or for those who are simply afraid to actually go under the knife, it can be quite a relief to hear that there is such an option available. Anyone with a mild to moderate nasal hump, irregularity or deviation who does not desire a change in the size of his or her nose is a candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty.
Q. How do age related problems arise?
A. As skin ages, collagen fibers in the dermis breaks down, there is a gradual loss in hyaluronic acid, and abnormal elastin fibers increase and clump together. The skin becomes stiffer and less elastic, and when subjected to repeated movement by the underlying muscles, such as in the forehead, and around the eyes and lips, wrinkles appear. Exposure to the sun and smoking greatly accelerates this process, and it occurs earliest in clients with thinner, lighter skin. Some of the principal changes seen in the aging face include.
Q. How does the Stem Cell Facelift work?
Stem Cell Facelift is a complete
facial enhancing procedure
without involving any surgery. The procedure, which Dr. Ishoo performs at Boston Cosmetic Surgery, restores the youthful contour and shape of the face as well as skin tightness, and evens out color irregularities caused by the aging process and environmental sun exposure. Dr. Ishoo uses the patient's own fat that is removed under sterile conditions, then immediately processed to isolate and concentrate the fat stem cells, which are carefully injected into specific areas of the face to improve volume and elevate the skin. Frequently the areas that are treated are cheek bone tissue, around the eyes, temples and lines around the mouth. The resulting replacement of volume reestablishes youthful appearance of the face.
Q. What does the Liquid Lift work?
A. Dr. Ishoo performs this minimally invasive and quick procedure by using soft tissue fillers to enhance mid-face and cheek volume to reestablish a youthful appearance without surgery. This procedure also lifts the lower face and jowl laxity.
Liquid lifts are a minimally invasive alternative to a facelift. Instead of undergoing surgery, this less invasive treatment is completed in a short amount of time under local anesthesia. The most common soft tissue fillers include Restylane® and Juvederm® which, depending on your skin type, medical history, and the look you desire to achieve, will be selected appropriately. Generally, this procedure does not require recovery time.
Q. What is the Liquid Face Lift?
A. The Liquid Face Lift is a no down time method to restore facial volume and rejuvenation of the entire face. It is done using the body's own collagen making processes. It is therefore natural as you are making your own collagen. It does not give you that pulled-tight appearance. There is no cutting or general anesthesia.
Q. How is the Liquid Face Lift performed?
A. Dr. Ishoo evaluates the patient's skin to determine the changes that have occurred to create the age-related effects. He may supplement his analysis using photos supplied by the patient of themselves over the past 10, 15, 20, 25, even 30 years. He then creates a plan to lift the skin and rebuild the natural contours and appearance of the face using natural soft tissue fillers. The new collagen gradually lifts the skin back towards its previous more youthful appearance over time.
Q. How long does the Liquid Face Lift last?
A. Treatment results will differ for each person. In a clinical study, the treatment results lasted for up to 2 years after the first treatment session, in most patients. In Europe where there is a longer experience with dermal fillers there are reports of it lasting even 30 months. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect for a longer period of time.
